Truths very well may be relative from person to person. Within each of us, we believe things, we feel and we think -- our truths are our own. In the past, my own truths have been clouded by other's expectations of me coupled with my need to be the proper woman -- all of which are about keeping people happy and liking me. So my truths were pushed aside to be of worth to others. In delving within, we sometimes push aside what others think to find the glimmer of our own truth.

Truths are about living authentically, which is a way of life; and yes, a mission. Speaking our truths is about being authentic to our (my) own feelings, beliefs and realities. A major truth: The primary person I want to me happy with me, is me. After that, everything is hot fudge :)!

Cheryl,

Thanks for the post — I am curious, though, what you mean here when you talk about truths. I've always thought that truth was supposed to be something that is relative, but you're using the word in a way that makes it sound like like "way of life" or "mission".

Thanks.

I concur wholeheartedly. Joy, delight, happiness and fun might sound self-indulgent to some folks, but those traits are actually gifts we give to the people around us. It is like planting flowers -- they are visual gifts you give your neighbors. I also substituted mindset or resolution this year. January, I focused on forgiveness, and for February the topic is THRIVING.

The art book I mentioned has just been published. It is Mixed Media Self Portraits by Cate Prato. I have about 10 pages with 8 pieces of artwork and writing on therapeutic aspects of self portraits. You can sneak peek the book on Amazon. The back cover has one of my pieces; a 'mime' face that is half white.

Expressing ourselves through art is such a healing process! I have experienced the results in my own work and have seen it at work for others in my studio. It is reaffirming to hear other peoples' stories about art and healing and I think that it is most appropriate to pass them on.

Besides all that, I love your work! Congratulations on being included in an art book with 9 of your pieces. When the book is named, please let us know!

Blessings! C.
